Family policies
What families ask before the first day.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A student with a fever, or who was sick in the night, stays home until the next morning. The office calls a parent when a student is unwell at school, and sends a note home when something is going around.
Drop-off and pickup
Families drop off between 7:45 and 8:15 a.m., and pickup is at the front door at 3:30 p.m. Only the adults on a family's pickup list may collect a student, and we ask to see ID until we know you.
Closures for weather and holidays
The school closes for the Lunar New Year week, Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks and the usual holidays. When a storm or flooding closes the roads, we text families before 6:30 a.m.
Leaving the program
We ask for a month's notice in writing before a student leaves. The enrollment agreement says how a month in progress is handled.
Screens and phones
Students do not use screens in the early grades. In grades 6 to 8 they use school laptops for writing and research, and phones stay switched off in the backpack all day.
What to wear and bring
There is no uniform. Students wear plain, comfortable clothes and closed shoes for recess, with a water bottle and a hat in the warm months.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Families send lunch, and children eat together at long tables. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll, and the office keeps each student's plan within reach.
